Audit

The responsibilities of Non-Medical Referrers include submitting an audit every two years (within first initial year upon NMR status) to demonstrate compliance with your protocol and achievement of the required referral standards.

As a Non-Medical Referrer, we would expect you to request a minimum of 10 exams per year to justify your status. If you have failed to meet this criteria a discussion will need to take place to certify whether your NMR status is still required.

The audit data and audit template will be sent to you via email from the NMR team for completion.

We ask you to assess a random sample of 10% of your requests (minimum 10, maximum 50) for the following criteria:

  • What percentage of imaging requests is within the inclusion criteria of your requesting protocol?
  • IRMER states that ‘each medical exposure should have a written outcome’.
  • What percentage of your imaging referrals achieved this?
  • What percentage of your imaging referrals confirmed your clinical diagnosis?
  • What percentage of your referrals were made following a clinical examination by you as the referrer?

We must also write a qualitative evaluation of your requesting.

Enter the data in the excel spreadsheet and the audit template and return both to NMR@dchft.nhs.uk
