Joint Infrastructure Strategy (2025-2030)

Our Joint Infrastructure Strategy (2025-2030) sets out how Dorset County Hospital (DCH) and Dorset HealthCare (DHC) will modernise, optimise and develop our combined estate over the next five years. DCH and DHC operate 200 sites across Dorset, supporting acute, community and mental health services.

As federated NHS trusts working closely with our health and care partners across the county, we are working together to improve services and better meet the needs of local people – and making the best use of our buildings and estates is key to achieving this.

Maximising the use of our estate

Our vision is to make Dorset the healthiest place to live by offering:

  • modern, fit-for-purpose healthcare facilities
  • integrated neighbourhood health centres
  • digitally enabled environments supporting new models of care
  • sustainable, low-carbon infrastructure aligned to NHS Net Zero ambitions
  • better workplaces and key worker housing

We will redesign and repurpose existing spaces wherever possible, investing in new facilities only when needed to meet future demand, replace outdated assets, or deliver sustainable infrastructure.

Our aim is to improve patient care and outcomes, support more care closer to home, provide modern workplaces for staff, make better use of buildings and resources, and drive collaboration, sustainability and innovation across Dorset.

This plan sets out our priorities for the next five years and how we will achieve these.
