Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is committed to promoting the health and wellbeing of our staff and all those who use our healthcare services.

A healthy and happy workforce is important to us and great quality healthcare begins with a healthy workforce. We therefore offer a range of initiatives, both internal and external to the Trust, to help support staff health and wellbeing.

  • We provide 24/7 365 support for our staff through our Employee Assistance Programme partner Vivup. Staff can access counsellors and receive confidential support for issues affecting them in or out of work.
  • Staff are supported by a community of Health and Wellbeing Coaches; staff from across the trust who are trained in a minimum of NHS Wellbeing Conversations, Basic Coaching and MHFAid to support colleagues.
  • We support Menopause. Staff can be part of our Menopause Forum to take part in training and awareness sessions and to access our Menopause Advocates who are here to support staff across the trust.
  • We offer access to a holistic health and wellbeing platform, Your Care. The platform allows staff to measure and care for their own physical, financial and mental health with recommendations for improvement and support.
  • We have partnered with the Money and Pensions Service to provide free advice and guidance for staff with a range of financial needs and questions.
  • We have partnered with the Serve and Protect Credit Union to provide staff with the opportunity to save and borrow via salary deduction.
  • We offer staff foodbank referrals as well as the use of leftover food from our on- site restaurant (Damers) that would otherwise go to waste for those in financial need.
  • We offer a variety of free classes for staff to support their physical, mental and spiritual health including, Yoga, Pilates, Shiatsu Massage and more.
  • We support our staff through partnership with Dorset MIND in providing outdoor activities in a local allotment, connecting staff with nature whilst getting them physically active.
  • We help our staff to improve or remain physically healthy in partnership with LiveWell Dorset who provide bespoke training for staff as well as free periodic health checks.
  • We aim to be present in our on-site restaurant (Damers) each Wednesday, celebrating 'Wellbeing Wednesday' with a mixture of themes, or simply to be accessible.
  • We have a trauma support system for staff utilising Trauma Risk Management (TRiM); a peer led support for individuals involved in traumatic incidents.
  • We work to theme our months according to specific health and wellbeing focuses, from menopause to nutrition, Stoptober to Movember and physical activity to finance.
  • We prioritise wellbeing through a Staff Health and Wellbeing Steering Group, key stakeholders from across the organisation meet to work together to support the improvement of wellbeing.

Our DCH Health and Wellbeing team work to better and grow the Staff Health and Wellbeing offer at the Trust. If you have any questions, queries, recommendations or feedback, please email Health and Wellbeing Lead Mark Greening at mark.greening@dchft.nhs.uk
