Virtual Fracture Clinic

What is the Virtual Fracture Clinic?

The Virtual Fracture Clinic is a triage service designed to streamline care for patients with acute orthopaedic injuries.

Instead of attending a face-to face appointment, you will have your case reviewed remotely by a team of orthopaedic specialists, including orthopaedic consultants and orthopaedic advanced clinical practitioners.

You will not need to attend hospital for the Virtual Fracture Clinic review to take place.

When you visit the Emergency Department or Urgent Treatment Centre with an injury, details about your case, including any x-rays or scans are sent to the Virtual Fracture Clinic.

The specialist orthopaedic team will determine a management plan based on this information. This management plan may involve advice on managing your injury at home, referral to physiotherapy or scheduling a face-to-face appointment in the fracture clinic if needed.

What happens next?

You will either receive a letter or a telephone call within one week advising you of the Virtual Fracture Clinic review management plan.

If you have not received contact from the Virtual Fracture Clinic within one week of your Emergency Department or Urgent Treatment Centre attendance, please contact the Virtual Fracture Clinic on the contact details below.
