Children and Young People’s Diabetes Service
The Children and Young People’s Diabetes Service provides care to children and young people ages 0-19 with diabetes. We are part of the Wessex Children and Young People’s Diabetes Network.
This page is intended for use by children, young people and their families/carers who are already under the care of the team, or any health or social care professionals.

For urgent advice Monday to Friday 9am-4pm (excluding bank holidays) please call the Children's Diabetes Team office on 01305 255282.
For urgent advice out of houses please call the hospital switchboard on 01305 251150 and ask to be put through to the Paediatric Consultant or Paediatric Registrar on bleep 523.
Please note: You should never stop your insulin. Doses may need to be adjusted to manage your blood glucose and ketone levels.

Children and young people with a possible Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis need to be discussed straight away with the duty paediatrician as they will need admitting directly to the paediatric ward.
