Support your Local Hospital
This leaflet explains how you can support your local hospital by becoming a member. There is also a membership form below.

Dorset County Hospital is a Foundation Trust.
This means the hospital has to have a Membership and a Council of Governors.

Membership is free.
You have to be over the age of 16.
You have to live in England.

Members elect the Council of Governors to represent theirs views.
This makes sure that the decisions made by the hospital are in the best interests of the
community.

Why become a member?

- You can vote for Governors in your local area
- You get a chance to stand for Governor and represent local members and the public
- You can give feedback to the hospital
- You get a newsletter
- You get to come to members’ events at the hospital
- You can get access to discounts usually only available to NHS staff, including discounts at local businesses.
