MRI Implant Safety Information List
Please read the following list carefully. If you answer YES to having any of the implants/devices or statements below, please contact the MRI Department immediately on the following number:
01305 255397 – available Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm
- Cardiac surgery and/or implants – pacemaker, reveal device, defibrillator, heart valve, closure device
- Brain surgery and/or implants – hydrocephalus/VP shunt, previous brain surgery +/- clips or coils
- Neuro stimulator
- Cochlear implants
- Hair extensions
- If you have EVER had any metal or shrapnel in your EYES
- Medicated skin patches e.g. fentanyl, hormonal
- Breast tissue expanders
- Portacath
- Gastric bands
- Stent in the aorta, legs, oesophagus or other body part excluding heart)
- IVC filter
- Rods or metalwork in spine
- Any prosthesis
- Continuous glucose monitor (under skin)/ insulin pump
- Glucose monitoring patches
- Sacral stimulator
- Operation in last six weeks
- Any possibility you may be pregnant
- You are breastfeeding
Failure to inform us prior to your appointment could result in your scan being postponed or cancelled. If you are unsure of anything please call to check.
