Background
I trained at the University of Cologne in Germany and Birmingham Medical School and completed my junior doctor training in the West Midlands. I was awarded a Medical Doctorate (MD) in 2002 at the University in Cologne, Germany in the field of immunotherapy for cancer treatment.

My Specialist Training in Dermatology was completed during 2006 – 2012 in the Greater Manchester Area and in the West Midlands.

During my Dermatology Training I undertook additional training in the following areas: skin surgery, management of skin lymphoma, vulval skin disease and patch testing for skin contact allergies.

In 2013 we made a family move to Dorset, where I took up my substantive appointment as Consultant Dermatologist at Dorset County Hospital.

Skin surgery and management of Skin Cancer including Skin Lymphoma.
Vulval Dermatoses.
I am a member of various professional groups including: British Association of Dermatologists, British Society of Dermatological Surgery, British Society for Medical Dermatology, British Society for Dermatopathology, UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network and Dowling Club.

New treatments introduced
Dermatological Surgery: As a team we have introduced and developed this specialist service in the department and the Trust.

Vulval Skin disease: I see patients with vulval dermatoses and provide advice within the setting of a virtual vulval disease Multi-Disciplinary-Team (MDT); an initiative set up in conjunction with the Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) service and the Trust’s Gynaecology and Histopathology services.

Skin Lymphoma: I see patients with Skin Lymphoma in cooperation with the Haematology Team and other clinicians with a specialist interest in Skin Lymphoma within the region, and the tertiary referral Skin Lymphoma Unit at St Johns Institute of Dermatology in London.

Advice and guidance service for Primary Care Clinicians: As a team we have set up this service for Primary Care clinicians within the Trust’s catchment area.

Background
I qualified medically in 2002 and is a UK trained (CCT) dermatologist. I studied and obtained his Master of Science in Clinical Dermatology in 2005, under King’s College London, at the prestigious St John’s Institute of Dermatology.

During the development of my career in dermatology, I obtained a number of dermatology qualifications covering various academic levels in the discipline and was an undergraduate examiner for Queen Mary University of London and King’s College University of London. I have given lectures on acne, atopic eczema and skin cancer for medical students as well as online tutorial for General Practitioners internationally.

Since the completion of dermatology training (Wessex rotation) in 2014, I have worked as a consultant dermatologist in many secondary and tertiary dermatology centres. I was previously appointed as a substantive Consultant Dermatologists in King’s College Hospital 2017-2019 and has relocated to Dorset in 2019. I am is currently employed by the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Substantive NHS Consultant Dermatologist.

I am experienced in providing dermatological consultation and management in general dermatology, skin cancers, mole checks via in person clinical consultation and online consultation (teledermatology).

I am a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, International Society of Dermatopathology, British Society of Dermatopathology, Royal College of Physicians, British Medical Association and Royal Society of Medicine.

Background
I trained at Birmingham Medical School and undertook junior doctor training in the West Midlands and Bedfordshire, passing the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health examination.

I undertook Specialist training in Dermatology on the West Midlands rotation from 2003-2007.

I undertook additional training in Dermatopathology (Skin Histopathology) during my dermatology training. I am one of very few dermatologists successfully passing the Diploma in Dermatopathology examination (set at expert level), and one of even fewer (<5) UK Dermatologists regularly reporting Skin Histopathology cases as part of routine clinical work.

I previously worked as a Consultant Dermatologist at University Hospital Birmingham from 2007-2009 and as a Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital from 2007-2013. In 2013, I gave up sessions at Birmingham to work as Consultant Dermatopathologist at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

We made a family move to Dorset in 2013 where I took up a split post as Consultant Dermatologist (and Clinical Lead) and Consultant Dermatopathologist at Dorset County Hospital, allowing me to combine my professional interests.

New treatments introduced
As Clinical Lead in Dermatology, I have an ongoing role in developing all aspects of the dermatology service given the previous hiatus of consultant dermatologists in preceding years. This has included recruiting additional members of the team and the development of specialist services provided within the department including dermatological surgery, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, Iontophoresis, botulinum toxin treatment for hyperhidrosis, etc.

I have set up the paediatric dermatology service, with dedicated clinics running in the Children’s Centre, supported by a paediatric dermatology nurse specialist.
