What do Healthcare Support Wokers do?

Healthcare Support Workers provide compassionate care, helping patients on their
journey back to full health. Their duties include:

  • helping patients to move around
  • monitoring patients and performing
  • basic health checks
  • making patients feel comfortable
  • washing and dressing patients
  • serving meals and helping to feed patients.

Who can apply?

  • you must be a minimum of 18 years old at start of the programme
  • those who are new to care or have previously worked in a healthcare setting and are wanting to return. We are unable to accept applications from those currently working in a care role.

  • the programme is based around the Care Certificate standards
  • practical skills sessions
  • opportunity to spend time in a clinical setting
  • insight into NHS careers and learning opportunities, with employability skills training and support
  • guaranteed interview for a Healthcare Support Worker role at the end of the programme
  • support and guidance for successful scholars to progress into Level 3 qualifications leading to professional registration
  • lunch provided as well as reimbursement for travel up to £100.
