Ridgeway Elective Orthopaedic Unit

Updated 7 August 2024

Ridgeway Elective Orthopaedic Unit is part of the Musculoskeletal Directorate at Dorset County Hospital. The ward cares for patients who are coming into hospital for elective (routine) orthopaedic or spinal surgery.

It is located on Level 2 of North Wing. When you enter the hospital by Entrance North 1, take the stairs directly in front of you or use the lift situated to the right of the stairs.

The unit has bays (rooms with a small number of beds) arranged around a nursing station and private side rooms. We look after both male and female patients, but the accommodation is arranged as single sex with separate toilet and washing facilities. Your privacy will be maintained at all times.

It also has its own orthopaedic admissions and therapy suite.

A team of nurses will be looking after you each day. They will be responsible for your care while you are with us.

Please do not hesitate to speak with the Nurse in Charge if you wish to raise any concerns. You can also ask to speak with the Sister or Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.
