Public invited to have their say on artwork for new hospital multi-storey car park
8 February 2021
Local people are being invited to choose the images which will be used as artwork on the sides of Dorset County Hospital’s new multi-storey car park.
The metal facades will be added to three sides of the building and feature images of local landscapes and landmarks, a theme chosen by hospital staff to illustrate the hospital’s catchment area.
People are asked to click on the following link to vote for their three favourite landscape
images - options include photographs of Maiden Castle, Portland Bill, West Bay and Durdle Door: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/dchcarparkvote
The three most popular scenes will be used to create images on perforated metal panels which will cover elevations of the multi-storey car park.
The hospital gained planning permission for the multi-storey car park in September 2020.
This is the first phase of major development plans which will see the expansion of clinical facilities, including the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit.
The hospital’s Deputy Chief Executive Nick Johnson said: “Everyone at the hospital is
excited about this much needed project. The new multi-storey car park is the first step in our future development plans and will free up space on the site, enabling us to expand essential clinical services.
“Our staff made a great choice in selecting landscapes as a theme and we look forward to hearing our community's views on the final design. We hope this artwork will give people a real sense of pride for their local area and a sense of ownership of the hospital's future.”
