Ciclosporin Monitoring Information

This leaflet provides additional information about the monitoring required while you are taking ciclosporin. It should be read alongside the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) patient information leaflet.

What is Ciclosporin?

Ciclosporin is an immunosuppressive medicine used to reduce inflammation by calming the immune system. It can be very effective but requires careful monitoring to ensure it remains safe for you.

Why is monitoring needed?

Ciclosporin can influence kidney function, liver function, blood counts, and cholesterol levels. It may also increase blood pressure. Regular checks help us identify any changes early so we can adjust your treatment if needed.

How often are tests done?

  • Every two weeks until your dose has been stable for more than six weeks
  • Then monthly for up to 12 months
  • Then every three months if stable.

Please ensure you remain up to date with your blood tests and arrange timely appointments with your GP or at South Walks House.
